Posted February 21, 2013. White smoke norrmally means that the fuel injected into the cylinder is not burning correctly. The smoke will burn your eyes. Engine/pump timing out. Fuel starvation to the pump causing the pumps timing not to operate correctly. Low engine compression. Water/petrol in the fuel.

The 1.6 tdci is different to both the 1.8 and the 2.0 (not sure what your mondeo has/had but both the 1.8 nd 2.0 are different to each other as well as the 1.6). The 1.6 has a harmonic balancer but unlike V engines it is simply a weighted flywheel which I guess could be faulty.

To remove the engine you will need to disconnect the DPF anyway so again, whilst its out it will make life easier to cut it open and gut it. you will need to have the DPF deleted otherwise you will have problems, the EGR doesnt need mapped out on a EuroIV, im not sure about EuroV engines. but the DPF will and unfortunately it isnt something that an ELM327 cable will help you do.
